The modular train group was started over six years ago by men that not only had a passion for model trains, but also for God-centered fellowship.
The guys build modular train layouts for display in venues around our community. These exquisite layouts feature multiple train tracks that surround miniature realistic buildings, industry, communiti es and parks that show life as it used to be. The guys are skilled modelers and have displayed at places like Columbia Historic Preservation Society, the Agricultural & Industrial Museum, Greenberg’s Great Train Show, Great Scale Model Train Collectors Show in Maryland, The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg and York, Train Collectors Association(TCA) Show and for the last two years - The York Fair.
Several
members of the group have helped each other during the good and bad times. For
example, the guys spent quality time with Norm Laws and before his passing made
him an honorary member of the group. Check out a video showing Norm’s train
layout featuring footage taken by Steve Voorhees and edited by Melody Ritchey
Antioho.
Co-leader
Steve Voorhees says, “The trains provide a common interest and the guys get to
do something they really enjoy. But the big thing is the fellowship they
experience, especially as believers. The bottom line - it’s not just about the
trains.”
Currently
there are 22 guys in the group and according to group leader Rick Dodd, “We are
always looking for new train buffs to join the fun and constantly on the
lookout for places to display and run the trains. Also, we have a need for a
permanent home if someone would have a large space available for us to use/rent
cheap in the York, PA area.” If you'd like to join this group or want more
