General Assembly / Everyone Has A God Story / Sermon Recap

2017 GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Ryan Krebs and his wife will join Jerry Porter at this year's General Assembly

A GLOBAL FAMILY REUNION
Every four years, more than 20,000 Nazarenes from around the world gather for General Assembly and Conventions. This global family reunion includes times of worship, service, fellowship, training, and making important decisions that will affect future generations of Nazarenes.

PURPOSE OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY?
The General Assembly is the “supreme doctrine-formulating, lawmaking, and elective authority of the Church of the Nazarene”.

WHO ATTENDS?
Elected delegates are evenly distributed between clergy and lay persons. They gather for legislative sessions; business includes the election of general church leadership, ratification of resolutions, and enacting strategic legislation designed to facilitate the denomination’s engagement of global needs through compassionate ministries, education, and congregational development.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?
While voting is restricted to only those officially elected delegates, participation in the events of the General Assembly and Conventions is open to the general public. The 2017 General Assembly is the 29th in the denomination's history and this year will take place June 24-29 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

WANT TO VIEW ON LINE?

EVERYONE HAS A GOD STORY

Just before the offering during the service last Sunday, Pastor Greg Lloyd shared an interesting "God Story". We tracked him down and asked him to repeat the story in the following one minute video:

So why did we share this video? I'm glad you asked! Christ followers can often see God at work in their daily activities. There are hundreds of similar God stories within the Stillmeadow family that would be helpful for others to hear. Who knows, it could be a spiritual lesson you've learned from an aloof cat, a cranky spouse, a loving child or from God's beautiful creation. So, the question is, "do you have a story to share"? If you do, please let Friday Feature know by sending your name and contact information by clicking HERE. And then look for another story in next week's Friday Feature News.

LAST WEEK'S SERMON

SERMON RECAP - June 11, 2017
Last Sunday Pastor Bud dusted off and shared a C.H.Spurgeon's sermon from May 17, 1891. According to Spurgeon "To have our times in God's hand must mean not only that they are at God's disposal, but that they are arranged by the highest wisdom. God's hand never errs; and if our times are in his hand, those times are ordered rightly. We believe the hand of the Lord works all things for the best." Here are seven excerpts from the sermon:

I. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God will create within us a sense of the nearness of God. Don't worry about tomorrow-God is already there!
II. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God will provide an answer to our many temptations.
III. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God is a sufficient support against the fear of men.
IV. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God will provide a cure for present worry.
V. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God will provide a quietus as to future dread.
VI. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God will be a reason for consecrated service.
VII. A clear conviction that our times are in the hand of God is a grand argument for future blessedness.
