GRADUATING SENIORS / NEW MEMBER SUNDAY / SERMON RECAP

The following graduating seniors will be honored during our services this Sunday, May 28th.

Last Sunday 21 people joined the Stillmeadow family. It was interesting that many new members were already plugged into small group ministries. John Wesley would be happy!

Community Jesus’ Way
Jesus said quite a few things about living in community. And more importantly, He modeled it…He lived it out. The Gospel of Matthew contains some very important things Jesus said about what a community that gathers in His name should look like.

I. In Christian Community, The Humble Are Exalted.

1. Jesus said: “Those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Matt. 23:12)

2. Jesus never claimed that it would work in the world. However, it will and does work in Christian community. That’s community Jesus way. And Jesus does require us to live this way in the world whether it “works” or not.

II. In Christian Community, the Lowly Are the Greatest.

1. Jesus said in Matthew 18:4-“Whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

III. In Christian Community, the Last Are First.

1. Matthew 20:16-and the first shall be last. (and again in Matthew 19:30)
2. Jesus value system is very different from this world’s value system. Jesus values humility and service…not pride and self-exaltation. And so must the community that bears His name.
