NEW LIFE FOR GIRLS

SPECIAL CONNECTION
For our Friday Feature Story today we visited an amazing place called New Life for Girls and found they have a special connection with the Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene. You may ask "What is New Life for Girls?"

A SAFE AND LOVING ENVIRONMENT
For almost 47 years, New Life For Girls has been introducing women ages 18 and up, as well as mothers and their children, to a new way of living. New Life is a comprehensive 24 hr. residential program for those who are struggling with life controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction, eating disorders, and sexual abuse. In this safe and loving 27 acre campus near Dover PA, lives are changed and transformed.

YOU CAN HELP!
New Life for Girls is supported solely by friends who care and have a desire to help. New Life does not receive government funding, nor do they charge the women for their stay in the program. Support of New Life is not only needed financially but in many other ways. Food, cleaning and maintenance supplies, household items, office supplies, etc. are always in demand. They can also use the help of painters, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and carpenters.

UNIQUE WHEELS CAR SHOW
As they've done for the last 9 years, our own Don and Elaine Leiphart will be taking the Unique Wheels Car Show to New Life for Girls; this year on Saturday, November 19th. At 12:30pm the cars will meet at Stillmeadow and form a caravan to the New Life for Girls campus. What do these cars look like? Here is a one minute video of images from the car show last month.

CARS, AUCTION, VETERANS, TESTIMONIES, TROPHIES
Before the car show everyone goes into the gymnasium, where baked goods and desserts are auctioned. During a brief ceremony veterans are honored, and some of the girls share their testimony. A few years ago one of the car owners heard one of the girl's testimony, went home and talked to his granddaughter, and she decided to enter the program.

At the end of the ceremony about 40 trophies are awarded for best cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors. For the last 9 years Don and Elaine Leiphart have been making trophies using used and new parts, saving $300-400 every show. Other Stillmeadow people who are helping or have helped with the show are Doug & Lori Weaver, Bruce Roach, Randy Miller, Bob Hockenbury, Gary Horick, Denis Berkeimer, Keith & Sue Miller and Carson Heistand.

ANOTHER CONNECTION NEXT MONTH
In December, Stillmeadow will have their annual Christmas party for New Life for Girls. Pastor Bud Reedy leads everyone in songs, (with motions) and Stillmeadow Nazarenes bring Christmas gifts for the girls, moms and kids.

A WORD FROM THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
"All of us at New Life For Girls are so thankful for the wonderful expression of love and support given to us through Stillmeadow Church of The Nazarene, Pastor Bud Reedy, and the members of this very special congregation of people. The Annual Car Show and Baked Goods Auction, along with the Christmas Fellowship in December is always a highlight for all of us here at New Life For Girls. The roar of the cars arriving on our property is quite a sight to see. The auction part of this event is  filled with much excitement and energy.  It is also a blessing to be a part of honoring our Veterans who have served our country.  We are looking forward to another fun-filled afternoon on November 19th." Kathy Kelly, Assistant Director, New Life For Girls, Inc.
