Prison

I was in prison and you came to visit me … I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.  Matthew 25:36, 40

There are several ways Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene connects with the more than 2,500 inmates at the York County prison:
  • Each week women inmates from the prison join our Celebrate Recovery group at York City Campus of the Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene.
  • Pastor Bud often visits individual inmates when requested.
  • For about seven years, Jeff Callender has worked with Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, an organization that has 100,000 volunteers around the country and over 300 just in York County. What happens during his monthly visits to the prison? About 50-60 inmates gather for two services in a room to sing hymns, listen to Jeff share a Bible teaching and then spend time in prayer. Also, before they leave, each inmate has an opportunity to fill out a form with their own personal prayer request.
  • Is it safe being locked locked in a room with inmates when the only link to the outside is an emergency buzzer? Jeff says, “Since I feel called by God to be there, I actually feel as safe inside the prison as outside.” Listen to Jeff explain why he is involved in this ministry by watching this quick video:

  •  On the third Sunday of each month, Pastor Isabell and a team of women, including Darlene Judd and Anna Reynolds, hold a church service at the prison.

Because of this faithful service to the inmates in our local prison, who knows, it’s possible that revival could begin behind the bars. Please pray that will happen! Want more information? Send an email to pastorisabell@stillnaz.com.
