In last week's Friday Feature we listed the names of those recently elected to the Stillmeadow Church board. Since then, we've had requests for pictures of board members, so people can connect a name with a face. So, here are the first set of pics and a little bit of personal information about each board member. The remaining members will be published in the next two Friday Feature editions.
I am the director and one of the therapists at New Beginnings Therapy services, who has been in close partnership with the Stillmeadow Church since 2001. I am blessed to be married to Nedra, and to have two awesome teenage boys, Nathan and Timothy, who keep life interesting.
In my day job I am Manager of Business Strategy & Analysis for Glatfelter, based at the Spring Grove pulp & paper mill complex....39 years in the global paper and printing industry, mostly in research & development. Married to Debi; father of three adult children; and grandfather of six. Hobbies include writing 18 books (so far) on the Civil War and Underground Railroad, and blogging for the York Daily Record.
I have been in the packaging industry for 19 years and am the Customer Service Manager at York Container, a corrugated packaging manufacturer in East York. I am married to my high-school sweetheart, Tim for 18 years, and we have two daughters, Brooke and Loghan.
My days are spent finding inspiration to write the message and prayer for Sunday's 8:00 Service; reading; checking prayer requests; helping neighbors, friends, and traveling. I have a wonderful son Timothy, lovely daughter-in-law Melissa and three loving Shih Tzu rescue grand dogs.
SERMON SERIES "UNDERDOGS"
Earlier this month, Stillmeadow began a new two month sermon series called "Underdogs". Since then we've provided a brief recap of the sermon. Here are some takeaways from Pastor Bud's sermon last Sunday - about an underdog named Mephibosheth.
Earlier this month, Stillmeadow began a new two month sermon series called "Underdogs". Since then we've provided a brief recap of the sermon. Here are some takeaways from Pastor Bud's sermon last Sunday - about an underdog named Mephibosheth.
- Every person God chose to use in a great way was in some way an underdog. And, every person God used had a justifiable excuse for why he or she couldn’t or shouldn’t be used by God to accomplish things for God.
- God doesn’t call the qualified . . . He qualifies the called.
- God can do great things among us when strong Christian friendships are being nurtured. We are better together.
- God can use the weak and wounded among us to bring healing and compassion to the people of God.
- King David’s experience and understanding of God was inadequate until Mephibosheth (the excluded one) was included in his life.
- The church of the first century grew as a collection, a community of weak and excluded persons.
