New Members / Soccer Update / Day of Prayer / Sermon Recap

In last week's Friday Feature News, we continued to introduce those who will become members of Stillmeadow on May 21st. We provide a face and a name - and information about each new member. So far it has been a real blessing to understand how these special people came to know Jesus and how they found their way to Stillmeadow. We continue with more introductions this week.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!

HOW DID YOU FIND JESUS?
Lester: I accepted Jesus when I was 8 years old in VBS.

Holly: I grew up in the church and built a strong relationship with Him through those years. My parents and Sunday School teachers taught me how awesome Jesus was! I made the decision in college to get baptized.

HOW DID YOU FIND STILLMEADOW?
Lester: Three years ago I began attending Stillmeadow when I started dating Holly. Stillmeadow has become a special place for us. We're excited about going with the youth on the next Work and Witness trip to Jamacia this July. I am also part of the Man Cave group where we have just finished a study on Jonah. I've always wondered how someone could survive inside a big fish - but as Jeff Calender said, "God put Jonah in a place where He would have Jonah's undivided attention".

Holly: I grew up in York.  About 7 or 8 years ago my parents were looking for a church that would be devoted to children. They fell in love with Stillmeadow’s Youth/Children’s Ministry.  I was part of the Youth Group under Pastor Josh and then came back after college and have been working with the youth since!

HOW DID YOU FIND JESUS?
Michelle: I was born into a Seventh Day Adventist church. I accepted Jesus into my life at the age of 12 and was baptized at age 28.

HOW DID YOU FIND STILLMEADOW?
Michelle: I found Stillmeadow through my cousins Doug & Lori Weaver. Stillmeadow was and is such a welcoming and loving church that I just knew this was my Church home.
So far we've enjoyed two weeks of beautiful weather for soccer. We have 152 players this season and have expanded to three age groups - U6 teams (ages 4 to 6), U8 teams (ages 7&8) and U12 teams (ages 9 through 12).
We are always in need of size 3 and size 4 soccer balls. If anyone has used soccer balls or shin guards and/or if anyone would like to donate new soccer balls, we would gladly accept any donations!
Our Fall season is set to run August 15th through September 21, 2017 with registration opening end of May. As always, we are looking for volunteers to help with the teams.

National Day of Prayer is less than one week away. Look for Facebook reminders as we get closer to this date!
SERMON SERIES "UNDERDOGS"
Last month Stillmeadow began a sermon series called "Underdogs". Since then we've provided a brief recap of each sermon.

Last Sunday Pastor Bud highlighted a Big Dog who became an underdog. This Big Dog was named Saul, (later to be know as the Apostle Paul) and he was a faultless law keeper. In fact, he kept all 613 laws. Perfectly. Saul persecuted the church and did everything he could to stop the growth of Christianity. But on the road to Damascus, Saul had an encounter with Jesus. And it was there that Saul's heart of stone was ripped out and replaced by a heart of flesh. We get a look inside Paul’s changed heart as it is recorded in Philippians 3.
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my LORD, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10I want to know Christ-yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
No one can be an underdog unless God rips out their cold, big dog heart and gives them a new heart of flesh.
